The problem of digital printing's post-press processing cannot be overlooked

A few years ago, digital printing was still a new thing. There was indeed a big gap between the quality of digital printing and people's requirements. The production efficiency was also very low and it was difficult to meet people's needs. In recent years, the speed of change and development of digital printing has exceeded people's imagination. The production efficiency of digital printing has been greatly improved, and the range of printing materials has become wider and wider. The print quality and effect of some printed materials have to be praised.

However, from the perspective of binding and post-press processing, there are still some issues that cannot be ignored in the post-press processing of digital printing. In digital printing, the prepress design has a great influence on the cost of postpress processing. Due to the limited paper specifications used in digital printing, a large number of digital prints are printed on one side. In addition to the prepress design that requires digital printing to make the most effective use of paper, the following factors should also be considered.

1. Paper orientation

Try to align the orientation of the paper in the direction of the back of the finished book. Due to the particularity of the combination of the color material and the paper on the surface of the digital printing paper, if the page is folded in the horizontal direction, the image will easily break at the folding position. Therefore, digital prints should take into account the post-press processing in the prepress design.

2. The position of the image on the sheet

Many digital prints design images in the middle of printed sheets, but when printed and processed, it wastes a lot of time and money. A 6-inch by 9-inch image is designed in the middle of an 8.5-inch by 11-inch print. When cutting, the printed sheet must be trimmed on all four sides; if it is placed at a corner, it only needs to be cut. Cutting on both sides can save post-press processing time and reduce printing costs. However, if the other two sides of the image are bleeding designs, you still need to trim all four sides of the sheet.
