Chinese fir cultivation technique

Seed harvesting

Chinese fir usually blooms from March to April, and it can be harvested from late October to early November when the bulb is turned from turquoise to yellowish brown. It is best to harvest in the mother or seed garden, or choose to grow on the excellent trees that are 15 to 30 years old.

Site selection

The most suitable place for the growth of Chinese fir is the deep, soily and moist soil in the downhill or shady mountain slopes, especially in the existing forests. When the wind is bare and the dry, sticky and knotted mountains are not suitable for planting fir. Fir is afraid of wind and drought, and grows poorly in areas with drought and dry heat. Cunning is most likely to be afforested on soil developed from carbonate-like Quaternary clay.

Improved soil

For the soil with poor structure and low fertility, on the basis of comprehensive deep excavation, the crops or green manure such as sweet potatoes can be planted for two or three years, so as to loosen the soil, improve its physical and chemical properties, and then plant the fir, the effect is also good.

Seedling cultivation

Significant results can be achieved by adopting measures such as breeding seedlings, digging large holes, comprehensive land preparation or stripping, and intercropping of forest and grain. Choose sandy loam with short sunshine, convenient water supply, deep soil layer, fertile soil and good permeability. Made into a high bed, the bed is 25 cm high and the bed is 120 cm wide. The soil is required to be finely divided, the bed surface is flat, and the channel is unblocked. Sowing in February, using sowing, 5 kg per 667 square meters, covered with yellow heart soil 1.5 ~ 2.0 cm thick after sowing. Timely weeding loose soil, appropriate seedlings, spray 0.5% Bordeaux liquid once a week to prevent disease. It is necessary to strengthen drainage before June, and pay attention to irrigation and drought resistance from July to August. Stop fertilization and irrigation after September. In that year, the height of the seedlings could reach 40 cm or more, and the ground diameter was about 0.5 cm.

Planting on the ground

Choose a deep soil layer, loose texture, fertile and humid sunny slope or semi-sunny slope in the middle and lower part of the forest. Remove shrubs and weeds before site preparation. For slopes below 20 degrees, it is possible to use all the hoes to dig the ground, and the slopes above 20 degrees can be used for hoeing or burrowing. The depth of the hole is required to be 50 cm, the hole width is 70 cm, and the hole distance is 1.7 m × 2.0 m. Backfill the fine topsoil and raise it 20 cm above the ground. In the thinner afforestation areas, one-third of the masson pine seedlings should be mixed to form a mixed forest of cedar pines to promote the formation of mature forests.
