Halloween Pizzas

We recently participated in the Pizza Hut Restaurant's Best Spooky Halloween Pizza blogger challenge, which was quite an exciting experience. As soon as we received the challenge, I decided to involve my daughters in it too. They were thrilled at the prospect and eagerly anticipated getting started, especially once they saw the fantastic pack of ingredients and tools we'd been sent. To prepare, I laid out everything on the kitchen table so the girls could dive into creating their own Halloween-themed masterpieces. I provided them with pizza bases, sauces, grated cheese, and a variety of toppings like olives, mushrooms, sweetcorn, pepperoni, and peppers. I even made a sample pumpkin-shaped pizza to give them some inspiration. The girls absolutely loved the activity. Though they did sneak a few extra olives and mushrooms while preparing, they eventually crafted some truly adorable—and somewhat spooky—pizza creations. Their final designs were simple yet effective, showcasing their unique ideas. I have to admit, my own attempt at a witch-themed pizza turned out to be pretty good, but theirs were surprisingly impressive! For my own pizza, I aimed for a green-skinned witch using a mix of pesto and tomato sauce. I added olives, mushrooms, carrots, and peppers to create the witch's features. While it looked suitably eerie, I found the olive count overwhelming, even for me. Still, the flavor combination was interesting and added a layer of complexity to the taste. One of the other pizzas I created was inspired by a spider theme, which I spotted on Pinterest. Cutting olives into spider shapes was surprisingly easy and added a touch of spookiness to the dish. These little touches made our pizzas stand out and definitely enhanced the Halloween vibe. After baking, we gathered around for the taste test. Dressed in our spooky masks, we dug in and were pleasantly surprised by how delicious the pizzas were. Each slice felt like it belonged at a Halloween feast, whether it was shaped like a ghost, pumpkin, or cat. The girls bravely attempted to eat the olive spiders, but only Molly, who is seven, was willing to take the plunge. She tried a bite but quickly spat it out, confirming that spiders, even olive ones, aren't everyone's cup of tea. Overall, this challenge was a fantastic way to celebrate the spirit of Halloween. Not only did we enjoy creating these quirky pizzas, but it also brought us closer together as a family. We’re already looking forward to doing something similar next year!
