This reduces a significant amount of manual coding, standardizes the programming style, and makes it easier for users of all levels to use and maintain the software. Thirdly, smart techniques are applied to identify, track, and manage various instrument states and settings. Users can directly access low-level configurations and benefit from intelligent state management, allowing them to switch freely between “test development” and “normal operation” modes. In test development mode, the driver automatically performs status checks to detect programming errors, while in normal mode, it runs at high speed, ensuring both safety and efficient performance. Additionally, thanks to the implementation of intelligent methods, the driver supports multi-threading and safe parallel testing. It also includes powerful simulation capabilities, enabling program development and testing without connecting to actual instruments. The driver's operation is solely related to the test function, independent of the instrument’s interface bus method. Only one initialization function, InitWithOptions, is used to distinguish the interface bus type and geographical location. In summary, by adopting a range of intelligent automation techniques, virtual instruments have overcome the limitations of previous VXI plug-and-play standards, such as inefficient operation, inconsistent programming styles, and complex development processes. As a result, they now offer a unified, efficient, reliable, and user-friendly solution, demonstrating the profound impact of intelligent automation on the evolution of virtual instruments and the broader field of instrumentation.
