Small device makes smartphone avatar 3D scanner

The camera on modern smartphones is incredibly advanced, but there's still room for innovation when it comes to adding new and creative features. Recently, a unique gadget called Bevel has caught attention on Kickstarter. This small device transforms your phone into a 3D scanner, opening up a whole new world of possibilities. To use Bevel, you simply plug it into your phone’s headphone jack. It works by combining your phone’s camera with its built-in laser, which is completely safe for the eyes. The device scans objects in three dimensions, allowing you to capture detailed models of anything you want. Once scanned, you can view the 3D model on your phone, convert it into a GIF, share it with friends, or post it on social media. Plus, if you have a 3D printer, you can even turn the digital model into a real-life object. Bevel comes with a companion app available for both Android and iOS. The device itself needs to be charged via a USB port, and according to the creators, it can last up to a full day on a single charge. While it does draw a little power from your phone during use, it won’t drain your battery significantly. This makes it a convenient tool for everyday use. Currently, Bevel is still in the crowdfunding phase, with an early bird price of $49 (around 314 RMB). If all goes well, it’s expected to ship in March next year. Whether you're a tech enthusiast, a hobbyist, or just curious about 3D scanning, Bevel could be a fun and practical addition to your mobile toolkit.
