Proper operation of a freeze dryer is essential to ensure optimal performance and product quality. Here's a step-by-step guide on how to use the equipment correctly:
Startup Procedure:
- Connect the power cable and check if the main power indicator is blinking. A blinking light indicates that the system is powered on.
- Press and hold the "Total Power" button for three seconds. The cold trap temperature will be displayed, and you can release the button afterward.
- Turn on the "Refrigerator" switch. The chiller will start running, and the temperature will gradually decrease. Allow at least 30 minutes of pre-cooling to ensure the cold trap can effectively absorb moisture.
- Press the "Vacuum Meter" key to activate the vacuum system. At this point, the digital display should show "110," and the "103" indicator light will turn on.
- Once the pre-cooling is complete, place your samples in the drying trays, cover the plexiglass chamber, and tighten both the inflation valve and the drain valve (located on the right side panel) by turning them clockwise.
- Start the vacuum pump by pressing the "Vacuum Pump" button. The vacuum level will drop below 20Pa, and the freeze-drying process will begin. Note: When starting the vacuum pump, press down on the plexiglass cover for a moment to improve the seal.
- If using a multi-manifold system, first close the rubber valve by lifting the valve core. Once the vacuum reaches 20Pa or lower, insert the pre-frozen vial into the lower port of the rubber valve and rotate the plastic valve core 180 degrees. Be aware that the vacuum gauge may temporarily rebound, so wait until the vacuum stabilizes at 20Pa before adding the next vial.
