Nova Chemicals is introducing two new grades of polyethylene for rotomolding large components. The first is NOVAPOLTR-0242-U/UG, a high density hexene copolymer with the toughness required for rotomolding, and with a similar melt index, as easy as other rotomolding resins.
The TR-0242-U/UG has a melt index of 1.8 g/10 min and a density of 0.942 g/cm3. It resists environmental stress cracking for more than 1000 hours. At 1% cutting, the flexural modulus is 970 MPa. The Armored Manufacturers Association (ARM) cryogenic impact is 60 feet-pounds (81 joules). Due to these properties that make the part tougher than the same thickness, this grade of polyethylene is suitable for use as a rot-infused chemical appliance, extending the use time, and maintaining the physical properties of the resin.
This resin is used for molding very large parts and can be used as a 10,000-gallon tank, including a tank truck that is resistant to chemical corrosion, and can satisfy processing performance. Can replace cross-linked polyethylene, fiberglass and reinforced concrete equipment, such as large farm supplies and chemical storage tanks, can also be a small vessel.
NOVAPOLTR-0338-UI/UIG is a medium density hexene copolymer with a shorter processing cycle than TR-0242. It has similar resistance to environmental stress cracking and low temperature impact resistance, but its toughness is a little inferior. The melt index is 3.5 g/10 min, the density is 0.938 g/cc, and the resistance to environmental stress cracking is more than 1000 hours. The ARM cryogenic impact is 50 ft. pounds (70 joules). It can produce a variety of multi-purpose products suitable for use as Medium and small agricultural tanks and chemical tanks, medium vessels, fish tanks and septic tanks. Both products are whiter than NOVA's other rotomolding resins. Batches and batches are compatible and can be used anywhere in the world.
