Glass fiber reinforced plastics refers to the dispersion of glass fibers in thermoplastic plastics. The technology developed this time is a structural technology that connects glass fibers in a resin with adhesives to form beams and columns.
Using this technology, PS can increase the heat distortion temperature to 200-250°C, and achieve the heat resistance of glass fiber-reinforced PPE (polyphenylene ether), PC, and PBT. And with high fluidity, dimensional stability, can be formed in a low temperature mold below 80 °C, lightweight, low cost.
As a result of the sluggish domestic demand for PS, Ichigo Petrochemical plans to promote the use of this technology in PS products to various OA machines, household appliances, and automotive interior panels to replace engineering plastics.
