Zhuzhou develops successful high-power GTO device

The 3000A/4500VGTO device independently developed by Zhuzhou Times Group Semiconductor Factory has recently passed the ground test evaluation at the National Engineering Research Center for Converter Technology. Its successful development has filled the blank of domestic high-voltage frequency conversion power semiconductor devices, represents the highest level of semiconductor main switching devices in the field of domestic power transmission and traction, and has milestone significance for the development of domestic high-power semiconductor devices.
As the main switching device for AC drives, 3000A/4500VGTO is mainly used in traction converters of various types of AC drive electric locomotives such as “Austrian Star” and “China Star”. The successful development of the GTO device will change the situation in which the device mainly relies on imports for a long time and will help form the AC drive technology industry with completely independent intellectual property rights. GTO device is the self-shutdown type power semiconductor device with the largest power capacity at present, and can be widely applied in the fields of power factor compensation, harmonic control, high voltage frequency conversion and the like.
