It is reported that in the fourth quarter of 2013, 200 batches of wood (made) furniture products produced by 200 enterprises in 24 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities directly under the central government in Beijing, Shanghai, Jiangsu and Sichuan were randomly selected.
This spot check is based on the requirements of the "Standards for Hazardous Substances in Wood Furniture for Interior Decoration Materials" and "General Technical Conditions for Wood Furniture", and the requirements for woodworking of wood furniture, physical and chemical properties of paint film, physical and chemical properties of soft and hard materials. 35 projects including 6 properties, such as performance, formaldehyde emission, heavy metal content and mechanical properties, were tested.
The spot check found that 31 batches of products did not meet the requirements of the standard, involving woodworking requirements, physical and chemical properties of paint film, and mechanical properties. Among them, the formaldehyde emission of 6 batches of products was unqualified, involving Zhangzhou Jude Furniture Co., Ltd., Shenyang Xinkaidi Furniture Factory, Jinan Tianqiao District Haoyiju Furniture Factory and other enterprises.
The General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine stated that the relevant provincial quality and technical supervision departments have been instructed to deal with the unqualified products and their production enterprises in this random inspection in accordance with relevant laws and regulations.
