On ceramic ink

There are various decoration methods for ceramic products, such as inkjet, hand-painted, transfer printing, and screen printing, but no matter what kind of decoration method, ink is indispensable.

What is ceramic ink? Ceramic ink refers to the substance with printing suitability printed on the substrate (blank or floral paper). It is mainly composed of solid powder (pigment, flux) and binding material that can fix it on the printed matter and some auxiliary agents.

The performance of the ink must first meet the needs of some forms of printing presses. Secondly, the film layer transferred from the ink to the substrate must be able to withstand the subsequent processes and various conditions of use.

1. Fluidity is an important performance of ink. Only inks with good fluidity can meet the requirements of printing methods and machinery in terms of ink leveling, ink transfer and leveling.

2. Drying speed of ink. This is also a particularly important issue for ink performance. If it is dried too quickly, it will dry up on the screen and block the mesh. If the drying is too slow, the printed matter is not easy to dry, which affects the subsequent work.

3. Fineness of ink. It depends on the dispersion performance of the binder in the ink composition, the particle size of the solid powder and the uniformity of its distribution in the binder.

4. The density or specific gravity of the ink. The dense ink is easy to stack in the printing process.

5. The coloring power of the ink refers to the level of pigment dispersion. However, it should be noted that the level of coloring power can only indicate the pigment content, but it cannot completely explain the color of the blotting ink, because the transfer performance, drying performance, and absorption properties of the substrate of the ink will affect the ink color density.
